DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY
February 10, 2007 | Springfield, Illinois
Let me begin by saying thanks to all of you whove traveled, from far and wide, to brave the cold today.
We all made this journey for a reason. Its humbling, but in my heart I know you didnt come here just for me; you came here because you believe in what this country can be. In the face of war, you believe there can be peace. In the face of despair, you believe there can be hope. In the face of a politics thats shut you out, thats told you to settle, thats divided us for too long, you believe we can be one people, reaching for whats possible, building that more perfect union......

IOWA CAUCUS NIGHT
January 3, 2008 | Des Moines, Iowa

Thank you, Iowa.
You know, they said this day would never come.
They said our sights were set too high.

They said this country was too divided; too disillusioned to ever come together around a common purpose.
But on this January nightat this defining moment in historyyou have done what the cynics said we couldnt do. You have done what the state of New Hampshire can do in five days. You have done what America can do in this new year, 2008. In lines that stretched around schools and churches; in small towns and big cities; you came together as Democrats, Republicans, and independents to stand up and say that we are one nation; we are one people; and our time for change has come.

NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY NIGHT
January 8, 2008 | Nashua, New Hampshire I want to congratulate Senator Clinton on a hard-fought victory here in New Hampshire. A few weeks ago, no one imagined that wed have accomplished what we did here tonight. For most of this campaign, we were far behind, and we always knew our climb would be steep. But in record numbers, you came out and spoke up for change. And with your voices and your votes, you made it clear that at this momentin this electionthere is something happening in America. ......

A MORE PERFECT UNION
March 18, 2008 | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania We the people, in order to form a more perfect union. Two hundred and twenty-one years ago, in a hall that still stands across the street, a group of men gathered and, with these simple words, launched Americas improbable experiment in democracy. Farmers and scholars; statesmen and patriots, who had traveled across an ocean to escape tyranny and persecution , finally made real their declaration of independence at a Philadelphia convention that lasted through the spring of 1787. ......

FATHERS DAY 2008
June 15, 2008 | Apostolic Church of God | Chicago, Illinois Good morning. Its good to be home on this Fathers Day with my girls, and its an honor to spend some time with all of you today in the house of our Lord . At the end of the Sermon on the Mount , Jesus closes by saying, Whoever hears these words of mine, and does them, shall be likened to a wise man who built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock. [Matthew 7:24C25] ......

Renewing American Competitiveness
COMPETITIVENESS June 16, 2008 | Flint, Michigan Its great to be at Ketteringa university that is teaching the next generation of leaders and training workers to have the skills they need to advance their own careers and communities. For months, the state of our economy has dominated the headlinesand the news hasnt been good. The subprime lending debacle has sent the housing market into a tailspin and caused a broader contraction in the credit markets ......

WEEKLY ADDRESS: President Obama: Health Insurance Reform Will Strengthen Small Businesses
WASHINGTON C In his weekly address, President Barack Obama cited a report released this morning by the Council of Economic Advisors in explaining how health insurance reform will strengthen small businesses in America. With small businesses paying up to 18 percent more for health insurance than large businesses, too many small businesses are forced to cut benefits, law off workers, or close down entirely. Health insurance reform will support small businesses by allowing them purchase plans through an insurance exchange and by providing tax credits to help them provide benefits. ......

°ÿշFacts, Falsehoods the Benefits of Reform
The President hosted a town hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on health insurance reform, telling the crowd, "I don't think government bureaucrats should be meddling, but I also don't think insurance company bureaucrats should be meddling. That's the health care system I believe in." The President was introduced by Lori, a woman who cant find coverage because of her medical condition. We all know someone like Lori who has been discriminated against because of pre-existing conditions, and can't receive the care they need. This is a personal issue for the President, who recounted his mother's battle with insurance companies as she battled with cancer ......
